Mitch Daniels IN Gov. full of Faith, Delusion, and Ignorance.

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels recently went public with his ignorance of American history and paranoia about Athesist destroying the “real world”. Click here. He wants Atheists to “think very carefully”.  I have the same advice back at you Mitch my boy!  I have thought very carelfully, and it is precisely becasue I think that I am an Atheist.  Mitch Daniels does not think and that is why he walks through this life led by his delusional faith holding the hands of prejudice and ignorance.

“And atheism leads to brutality. All the horrific crimes of the last century were committed by atheists -Stalin and Hitler and Mao and so forth- because it flows very naturally from an idea that there is no judgment and there is nothing other than the brief time we spend on this Earth.”

I don’t even know where to begin. The supposed faiths? The forgetting 9/11 or ethnic cleansing in Bosnia? The artificial limit to the last century (what, did the religious have a more advantageous position to commit crimes against humanity prior to that, is that it?)

Not even starting on the founder’s faith dominionism nonsense.

    ::headshake::

@Michaelk42: That’s the trouble with articles like this. They pack so much fallacious thought into so few words that it practically requires a book to address all the issues. Of course, this is from the mind that brought us the welfare privatization debacle, and the equally inane welfare privatization reform mess.

And here comes that Hitler-as-atheist crap again. He was Catholic, folks. And no, he didn’t believe in evolution. I wish people would leave Hitler out of all future arguments about absolutely everything.

“The whole idea of equality of men and women [and] of the races all springs from the notion that we’re all children of a just God.”

If I recall correctly, EQUALITY was not a central theme on which our country was ‘founded’ on.

Don’t know if ‘My Man’ Mitch remembers but our fellow brothers and sisters of color were and remained slaves long after our country’s inception. Or how bout how our noble, Christ-like founders treated God’s other children, the Native Americans ? Yes, we truly showed some good ‘ole Christian love to them there Indian folk.

And how about women ?? I guess our founders, through divine wisdom, presumbed women weren’t worthy enough and thus were exempt from voting along with the white men.

Sorry, this whole Beaver Cleaver crap gets old.

Hey, I love this country and am grateful for many things in my life, but please Mitch, don’t try to eulagize America’s history and morph it into some Christian fairy tale.

I find it interesting that channel 15 would air such false information. No wait this is the press. Wrong, nothing but sheep.

I’m sure glad us non-believers aren’t that weak minded. We would be lining up to jump. I guess I’m starting to understand why believers are bothered by us. We accept our history not sugar coat the past. I find it funny that when we talk to believers, they seem to forget thier past history of human abuse.

I have it on unimpeachable authority (don’t ask) that Mitch is big fan of “The Bell Curve” and consequently believes that remedial education for poor students is a waste of money. This is depressing.

    He started out so well:

…I also take very seriously the responsibility to treat my public duties in a way that keeps separate church and state and respects alternative views.

…it’s the one that talks about praying in private, not giving your alms in public, not being ostentatious about your faith.

but then he drives off into crazy-land:

The whole idea of equality of men and women [and] of the races all springs from the notion that we’re all children of a just God…

People who reject the idea of a God -who think that we’re just accidental protoplasm…

…And atheism leads to brutality. All the horrific crimes of the last century were committed by atheists…

    Uggh!
