On Monday, Dec. 21 (Winter Solstice) from 7 to 8 PM, FreeThought Fort Wayne presents “The Atheist Christmas Special” airing live on Access Fort Wayne. (Comcast Cable channel 57, Verizon FIOS channel 27).
This will be a live “over the top” (think budget Colbert) variety show with music, festivus pole, the war on Christmas, the actual history of Christmas, contrasting the gospels of Luke and Mathew, and ending with talk of Human Light. Yours truly might even play Glenn Beck. We are still in the planning stages. I picture a bunch of people sitting on the floor around 2 or 3 main speakers.
The next planning meeting is this Monday at my house at 7:30 PM (e-mail me if you need my address- use the contact us page). We need your help. I have booked studio B the following Monday, Dec 7th from 6-9 PM to pre-record a few segments. We need writers and creative ideas. If you have any ideas feel free to post here, contact me, or come to the planning meetings. I have also scheduled two coffee klatches (Dec 6 and 13th) and hope to find help and ideas during those gatherings.
I would like to ramp up advertising by getting fliers up at IPFW, a announcement on public access, and possibly send out press releases. I think a lot of people may feel left out of the holidays due to religion and we should reach out during the season.
The overall tone of the show I think is summed up in Tim Minchin’s song about Christmas. See
Don’t forget the Festivus pole from Seinfield.

This show sounds great.
Is the show really going to be called Winter Soltice?
