Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. It is about giving to others and giving thanks for what we have. It is about friends and family. And lots of food.
It isn’t based on religious doctrine, it isn’t to commemorate anything, and it isn’t created by Hallmark.
My mother always loved Thanksgiving. Everyone was invited. Estranged family members, random friends, college soccer players from tropical islands and Korean exchange students. Some years we had up to 22 people for Thanksgiving dinner.
This year’s dinner will be much smaller for me. Just the three of us, a couple of game hens, and board games. But I am very thankful for all those Thanksgivings and for my family. And for web cameras for allowing me to see my nephew on his first Thanksgiving.

Don’t forget that we will be assembling the AntiChristmas Tree 1.0. It shall be splendiferous.
While Thanksgiving is now a primarily secular celebration, it arguably didn’t start that way. Wikipedia addresses that here:

Of course, Christmas, which I celebrate, started out secular, was hijacked by Christians, and thanks to retailers, is again returning to its secular roots. Anyway, that won’t stop me from enjoying them both.
Despite my size, I’m normally a light eater. I have no idea why I enjoy gorging myself on Thanksgiving, but there it is.
It’s still all about Thankstaking.
