Ep. 20 The Enlightenment Show: August Berkshire VP of AAI

http://www.vimeo.com/5932546

Atheist Alliance International Vice-President and former Minnesota Atheists President, August Berkshire speaks with FFW president Andy Diekroger.

Topics
What is Atheists Alliance International and it’s mission?
What is an effective tone for non-theists to have in public?
What about morality?
Some common questions asked of atheists. (Something from nothing and the fine-tuned argument).

Meeting reminder- Our next meeting will be next Wed. August 12th at 7 PM.  Part of the meeting will be deciding if we want to apply for AAI Affiliate Membership.  Click here for more details.  This is free but we do have to add an amendment to our constitution outlining procedure should FFW dissolve.  (I think that is wise to accomplish independent of joining with AAI.)    The benefits of affiliate membership are voting rights, one free subscription to Secular Nation, and to be part of a national movement.

What is the deal with the green pallor set over everything? Does it look like that on the television, or was it some strange problem when you converted it? No big deal…

Wow! Very nice interview. August was very straight-forward and open. This kind of attitude is what I think our group is aiming for; at least I know I am. :D

    Great job, Andy!

I liked the cute little shot of Price all the way at the end too!

The green unfortunately is what is on TV. I have no idea why I didn’t notice it during the taping. I never really looked at the TV in the studio… I was busy talking with August. I won’t make that mistake again. The director said I may want to key it out after the shoot. Yeah, I noticed it first when I transferred the tape to hard drive. I did try to “key” it out in post but that didn’t help because of all the shadows…. Oh well can’t argue with the price and I should have paid more attention.

Thanks Jake for noticing the price picture at the end and the positive feedback!

    @Andy D.

At the 31:00 minute mark I think the essay you were looking for was called “Where do we go from here?” and the author was Daniel Loxton of Skeptic Magazine.

Here’s the link to the essay:

and is the inspiration for the recommendations of Skeptical Activism called “What Do I Do Next?” here:

Thanks Skep for the links… Andy Kaiser was a good guess but it wasn’t right.

Firstofall- Thanks for watching and glad you liked the interview.
