Skepticism

What’s on my mind and yes this is random, deal.

Since my brain is in Concentrate-On-Work-For-The-Next-Two-Days-Then-I’m-Off-To-TAM7 Mode, all I have time to post is what I’ve read recently that I found interesting via my Yahoo Pipe news/mashup/flux capacitor feed aggregator (DO NOT click on that link unless you want to enter a world of nerd you may never recover from, srsly).

Lunar mapping satellite snaps first test images (CNET News)

What’s cool about this is that the resolution should be sufficient to resolve some of the larger stuff we left behind on our manned mission to the Moon 40 years ago. We won’t be able to snap the license plate of a lunar rover but we’ll get a few blurry pixels. Finally, we can finally put all of these Moon Landing Hoax people out of business…jk

Archaeologists discover King Herod’s quarry (MSNBC)

Earliest reference describes Christ as ‘magician’ (MSNBC)

Proof that references to archeological proof of Jesus Christ’s existence make for good headlines. I read it, stupid headline writers.

Twitter Travails: Pranks and Deleted Account Errors (PCWorld)

DT Further proof that #twitter @sucks.com.net.org

Deathmatch: Palm Pre versus iPhone (ComputerWorld)

I feel lied to. This article does not refer to a Transformers-style robot deathmatch between 2 mobile phones. I hate headline writers.

Patients tap into ‘energy movement’ of acupuncture (News-Sentinel)

I know Rebecca Minser, even went there for treatment. Nice lady. Best line though is, “There’s no placebo effect in dogs”

The story about finding Herod’s quarry is great. Speaking of archaeology (and from the same cetury too), this year they’ve started excavating a temple outside of Alexandria where Cleopatra and Mark Antony may be buried. If they find them, not only would it be an immense discovery in itself, but the renewed vigor over figuring out Cleo’s ethnicity and appearance would be interesting to watch too.

Hey man, this is Don from TAM7. We met at the SGU dinner and then talked afterwards about organizing an Indy SkeptiCamp/Drinking Skeptically/whatever and you told me to find you here. I already tossed a placeholder page up at the SkeptiCamp website to get the ball rolling.

Shoot me an e-mail at causticbox[at]gmail[dot]com whenever you get a minute.
