Atheist schizophrenia

For maybe a million years we have toiled.

Long it seems we have waited for our present minds to dawn.

Several billion years go by in the blink of a new-born eye.

Yet, eternity will go by even faster when you’re dead.

Why must purpose be attributed to everything?

And why is life’s apparent purpose always confused with life’s apparent meaning?

I’ve found it sufficient to simply appreciate existence without asking reality to be anything but what it is.

But then my good fortune is probably all too rare.

Labeling and categorizing reality is fun, tedious and not always fruitful.

Sometimes we become sour apples and go for the low-hanging, rotten fruit.

Nature personified is what the faithful seek.  Their stance is intentional, resolute and absolute.

Why is it only preachers know the mind of God anyways?  We all read the same damn book.

Believers enforce their shared delusions of their personal God as reality while modernity passes them by and takes advantage of their superstitions.

It’s often said believers are slight of mind, but I’ll give ‘em the benefit of my doubt and call it sleight of mind. I contest your subconscious isn’t under anything when it is proudly displayed for all to see.  Doubt is riddled about and throughout our minds like a block of Swiss cheese.

It’s interesting atheists often think about Gods they don’t believe in, while believers often don’t believe in atheists.

Reason is the only reasonable reason I can think of for thinking.  It would be silly of me to think otherwise; otherwise, you might think me mad.  Both sense and nonsense compete for our attention despite our sensibilities.  The only sensible solution is to not give nonsense a second thought.

I wonder if every current generation wonders why every generation thinks their place in space-time is the most interesting and the most important?

Egoism is relatively hard to shake.

But isn’t it absolutely true to say every generation is of utmost importance in shaping the current direction of its successor?  But then it can be argued sense of direction makes little sense since direction in an infinite universe is senseless.  Up, down, all-around.  Take your pick.  It’s all the same.  Life is funny.

And then you die.

And don’t even get me started with word games.
