Actually, the library posted a notice that the underground parking garage is open again, but you still have to go the wrong way down Wayne from Harrison to get to it.

I got a kick out of reading a presentation will be given on Giordano Bruno. My wife and I, while contemplating names for our son, briefly considered naming our son after him.

After thinking about it for a bit, we came to the conclusion it sounded a little too much like Digiorno, and people would probably think our son was named after a take home pizza company.

“It’s not Delivery, it’s my son!”

@Andy S: Hah! Or worse… Kids would have taken to calling him Geordi and taunting him with repeated cries of, “Five seconds to warp core breach!”

Kids would have taken to calling him Geordi and taunting him

That gives a whole new meaning to Creative Destruction.

    Andy –
Indeed, naming a kid Giordano Bruno might be a recipe for a series of playground beat-downs.

However – I couldn’t quite pick up from context whether you were talking about a son you’ve already named otherwise or a hypothetical future son. If it’s the latter, and you still want to keep a Bruno tribute on the table, you might consider “Nolan.” Born in the small city of Nola, he sometimes referred to himself as “il Nolano;” his philosophy as “the Nolan philosophy.”

I could tell you more, but I’m already diminishing my presentation material…

Good ones Joel and Neuralgormet !

Another name we bounced around for a while was Tycho, after the astronomer Tycho Brahe. My wife and I like different names so quite a few friends and family members were routinely putting alternative names out there.

The bio on Tycho is pretty amazing:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tycho_Brahe

We also considered the name “Laplace”. For some reason, we found ourselves on a French theme for a time, and threw around the names Jean, Pierre and Jacques.

Sadly to say, none of the above names came away the winner.

    Drum role please……

    Our son was named: Indigo.

Now, the poor kid will no doubt sometime in his future hear the infamous line:

“Hello. My name is Indigo Montoya. You killa my father. Prepare to die.”

    @Andy S.

Are you finally gonna come to a meeting this time?

    :-P

Thanks for the invite Andy W. My goal is to make it to one of FTFW’s meetings sometime this year.

Our clan has grown over the last two and a half years, and I’m afraid my weekends are filled with changing dirty diapers, watching Baby Einstein DVD’s and munching on Digiorno pizzas. Any kind of social or extracurricular activity has taken a hit lately.

Not to say I don’t appreciate all the effort the folks here have put into the blog, TV show and other related venues. You have some brilliant minds who make up and contribute to the cause. Its nice to know there are some folks here in the Fort who value and embrace reason and critical thinking.

Nah. Call it a ‘teaser’. You’re just wheting our appetites.
